Quite Like You
October 23, 2020
I remember the one with the cool black car,
I remember the one who took me too far,
I remember the one who fixed my swing,
and of course the one who laughed when I’d sing.
But no one, no one was quite like you.
I remember the one who could not be swayed,
And I remember the one who couldn't be saved.
I remember the one who always said no,
and of course the one who said he’d never go.
But no one, no one was quite like you.
I remember the one who broke my heart,
he was the artist who bought me fine art,
I remember my first and I rejected the last.
But no one was quite like you.
I remember the one who flew me to Rome,
he was the one who left me alone.
I remember the one who loved me the most,
I miss the way he was such a great host.
I remember the ones who pulled my hair,
& I remember the ones who truly cared.
But no one, not one, was quite like you.
I remember the one who teased all the time,
I remember the one who believed I could shine.
I remember the one who crushed my dreams,
he was the one who made me scream.
I remember the one who taught me to cope,
I remember the one who tried giving me dope,
I loved the one who bought me wine, he & I had not enough time.
I remember the one who sailed me away, God, he was the one I let get away.
I remember the one who was cold as ice, and the one who was just a little too nice.
But no one, no one was quite like you.
I miss the one who gave me life, but he sure did cause me years of strife.
I remember the one who couldn’t wait,
And the one who was always, always late.
I remember the ones who made me laugh, brothers are a young girl's better half.
I remember the one who talked about God,
I think he found me just a bit odd.
And I still want the one who plays in a band, I think about how we made love on the sand.
But no one, not one, was quite like you.
